A scene from Charlie Chaplin's 1921 movie "The Kid". Copyright has expired and the photo is in the public domain. Taken from Wikipedia. This media file is in the public domain in the United States. This applies to U.S. works where the copyright has expired, often because its first publication occurred prior to January 1, 1923. This image might not be in the public domain outside of the United States (this especially applies in Canada, China -not Macao or Taiwan-, Germany or Switzerland).

This project shows how the power of the web 2.0 can be used by us –the ordinary people- to do nice and productive things together. It follows, in some sense, the altruists’ lines that Chaplin referred in the last scene of his movie “The great dictator”. I hope that will be repeated by other people –and by me- to improve great public domain films hosted at Google Video.

Brief data of the film

Directed, produced and written by Charles Chaplin. Starring: Charles Chaplin, Edna Purviance, Jackie Coogan (the kid), Henry Bergman, Lita Grey. The Kid is notable as being the first feature length comedy film to effectively combine comedy and drama, as one of the opening titles says: "A picture with a smile, and perhaps a tear..."

As Google says in its FAQ about translations "automatic translation is translation produced by state-of-the-art technology, without the intervention of human translators. Automatic translation is also often referred to as machine translation". Well, it's an experiment, no matter if is beta or alpha. I hope you'll cooperate to improve them (I have no idea about the languages I translated using this technology). Thank you.
